TIRANA, November 18/ATA/ Italian Ambassador in Tirana Marco Alberti gave today his opinion on the recent government-to-government meeting in Rome.

The ambassador appreciated the G2G meeting as a key moment for promotion of the strategic relations between Albania and Italy.

Ambassador Alberti emphasized that this meeting had a special significance for both parties because it serves as an opportunity to materialize the historical friendship into concrete results. He added that now the real phase of cooperation has begun, which will focus on strategic sectors, including defense, security and infrastructure development.

“This is an important meeting in the wake of a strategic and historical relationship between the two countries. The real work begins now, and it is high time to materialize this friendship into concrete projects,” said Ambassador Alberti.

One of the most important areas for both governments is the defense sector, where Italy will play a greater role, contributing to the upgrade of Albania’s capacities.

The joint project for the upgrade of Pashalimani shipyard, within the framework of the cooperation between KAYO and FinCantieri, is a concrete step to increase employment opportunities and introduce innovation in this key sector.

Alberti noted that the atmosphere of cooperation during the G2G meeting was very positive, thanks to the close relationship between the two prime ministers, which helped the ministers of the two governments work with a visible synergy. He also highlighted the significance of this cooperation being materialized into concrete projects that will improve the lives of the citizens of Albania and Italy.

Another important aspect, which the ambassador highlighted, was the cooperation in the field of security and civil emergencies, especially in the context of Albania’s integration into the European Union and the common challenges for stability and security in the Western Balkans.

In conclusion, Ambassador Alberti expressed his belief that this government-to-government meeting has paved the way for deeper and more successful cooperation between the two countries, aiming to strengthen economic, political and strategic ties for a more secure and stable region. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
