TIRANA, March 18 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama informed local farmers and agricultural business representatives in the municipality of Kuçova over a sovereign guarantee fund and a funding line of 250 million euros launched by the Albanian government to drive investment in agriculture, aiming to boost exports and support small and medium-sized businesses in the sector.

The government head noted that the two new funding lines would increase financial support for small and medium-sized businesses and help them to enhance investments in production, mechanics, innovation, agro-processing and tourist infrastructure.

Rama said that individual farmers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in agriculture will benefit from easier financing, with attractive interest rates and lower collateral requirements.

The Premier said that “the soft loan programme through the funding line of 250 million euros and at an interest rate of 3.5%, combined with the sovereign guarantee fund, would cut the interest rate to 2%.”

Rama underlined that the nascent agritourism sector needs continued funding and urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the two new funding lines, backed by the Bank of Albania and second-tier banks.
