Speaking at a meeting with pensioners, as the distribution of the 5,000-lek summer bonus began on Wednesday, Rama addressed his pledge on the bonus and the debate it had sparked.

“Last year they said we were giving out the bonus because of the election campaign. This year, there is no election campaign. The bonus has nothing to do with anything other than the commitment we made to you. Additional revenue from higher fuel prices has been added to the budget. It has not been kept in the budget but has instead become part of the bonus that pensioners will begin receiving from today,” Rama said.

According to Rama, all additional revenue generated by the increase in fuel prices due to the war will go to pensioners.

“It’s not only pensioners, but also people with disabilities, who had long been waiting for what we have now done — doubling assistance for people with disabilities. The decision has also been taken to double assistance for children with disabilities, and the increase will begin now. It has also been decided that the state will pay the social insurance contributions of caregivers of people with disabilities,” Prime Minister Rama said.
