TIRANA, Sept 8 /ATA/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, stated on Friday that the price of fuel in our country does not change, not matter what happens in the international market, owing to the partnership between the government and the oligarchy as well as taxes.

“Albanian citizens have a question today. Why doesn’t the price of fuel change in Albania, no matter what happens in the international market? Whether it’s $2/barrel or $200/barrel, Albanians always pay over 200 Lek/liter that remains unchanged. Be it in times of crisis or in times of peace,” she said.

“The answer is very simple; the partnership between the government and the oligarchy. Either with the board of the oligarchs, or without their board, the price is kept unchanged and this shows how the system is caught, how there is a lack of competition and the price is set on the table with the board in place or without it,” Tabaku said.

The second reason, the DP deputy said, “is taxes.” Socialist taxation! The tax we pay at every petrol station! At every oil pump, when we buy fuel, 50% of the price is paid for taxes.”
According to her, “these two reasons have grabbed the system by the throat and take 50% of the value to the budget where they do business with it and the other 50% of the value is taken in agreement with the oligarchy.”

TIRANA, March 13 /ATA/ Deputy head of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, has reacted on Sunday regarding the increase of fuel prices pointing out that 60% of the oil price are taxes that go to oligarchs rather than to the citizens.

Tabaku in her posting said that, “Rama seeks to throw dust in the eyes of Albanians. Citizens have been protesting for days over abusive oil prices that have driven other prices up. Inflation is reaching inconceivable levels. Why has the price of oil soared? “Because 60% of the oil prices are taxes that go to the pockets of oligarchs and not of the citizens.”

Tabaku also called the Social Resilience Package as ridiculous, likening it to that designed to mitigate the impact of pandemic.

“In one month, the government receives 20 million euros in fuel tax collections that could go to the Albanians. But the government credits 20 million in the accounts of incinerators and other PPPs,” Tabaku said.

Tabaku said that, “this situation is not remedied by imitating the 5-year plans of the plenum but by intervening in fiscal policies. “Less taxes, citizen-centered policies and control over the oligarchs and the oil oligopoly and not only.”
