TIRANA, May 21 /ATA/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, together with the MP Koliqi and the legal advisor Logu, headed to the Constitutional Court on Tuesday where they presented other arguments as part of the request filed by the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party and also by the stakeholders to oppose the tax on freelancers who consider it unconstitutional.

At the media briefing after leaving the Constitutional Court, Tabaku said that other documents were submitted to the court to prove that businesses have been closed after the unfair tax came into effect, which threatens legal security.

“Today we are standing up against the breach of the Constitution with a tax rate of 30-40% on freelancers, the highest tax in the Republic of Albania,” MP Tabaku said while emphasizing that all actions are being taken in full coordination with the stakeholders who filed their requests.

“I avail myself of the opportunity to convey a message to all the freelancers who have reached out to us, I want to tell them that the DP parliamentary group will stand up for the citizens today, who are not a minority but a majority,” Tabaku said ,while also commenting on the IMF’s statement regarding the tax on freelancers.

The Constitutional Court accepted the request of the DP parliamentary group, which invited the freelances to support them. Tabaku met with the freelancers in the premises of the Parliament of Albania, while the Court set the date of May 21 and in June to hold a public hearing regarding the requests of the DP parliamentary group and the freelancers.
