TIRANA, May 6 /ATA/ Director of the Agency for Media and Information, Endri Fuga, stated on Friday that in Albania freedom of expression and freedom of the media are firmly guaranteed and journalists or media outlets come under no pressure from this government.

“I believe that every reaction should be proportionate and unfortunately, not only this tweet, but the whole report published last week does not reflect the factual reality. Fortunately, in Albania, freedom of expression and freedom of the media are firmly guaranteed and there is no intimidation, in any form, from this government against any journalist or media,” Fuga said.

The Director of the Media and Information Agency states that “the old days when newspapers were burned down by security agents, bank accounts of TV stations were frozen by tax authorities, the assets of media owners were destroyed by unidentified individuals or when reporters were shot by police during protests are a thing of the past and have nothing to do with Rama –led government. ”

“Is everything perfect?” Certainly not! But small verbal incidents between journalists and politicians occur not only in Albania, but everywhere, even in countries that rank much higher than us, in the same @RSF_inter report, even though no one mentions or considers them. As for the case mentioned, it is more a matter of respect for each other. When one asks a question, he/she should let the other answer as well. This is a basic rule,” he added.

Fuga’s comment comes after the report published this week by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
