The Conference brought together in Tirana parliamentarians from the national delegations to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and observers and partners for democracy.

“The contribution to women’s freedom is part of the struggle for the emancipation of our societies. Women’s freedom is hindered and slowed down by gender inequality and violence. The liberation of women from violence is not a battle, nor can it be achieved through decrees, technical and numerical solutions, but it is an adaptive process,” Nikolla said.

In her remarks, Parliament Speaker highlighted the need for a clear vision to ensure success in the struggle for the society’s emancipation.

“Women can become freer not only if they are empowered economically and politically, but also when society at all levels and its institutions are educated to develop, guarantee and protect this freedom,” Nikolla said.
