TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ The Global Transport and Connectivity Forum convened in Istanbul under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and with the participation of approximately 70 ministers from across the globe. This major international event brought together nations from Europe, Asia, and other continents to discuss the future of transport infrastructure and technology.

In attendance of the forum was also Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, who presented Albania’s progress in the sectors of road transport and civil aviation. She emphasized the country’s ambitious initiatives in the seaport sector, highlighting that these investments are positioning Albania within a new category of developed nations in terms of infrastructure connectivity.

The forum served as an open platform for discussing emerging challenges faced by governments in the fields of transport and multimodal connectivity.

The ministerial panels focused on key issues such as emerging technologies, railway electrification, expansion of electric vehicle fleets, the establishment of green ports, and their strategic linkage with dry ports.

It was emphasized that these projects transcend national borders, targeting economic gains and enhanced connectivity at both regional and intercontinental scales.

Minister Balluku highlighted the crucial role of transport in fostering economic and commercial growth, as well as in enhancing the daily lives of citizens and strengthening the framework of global security. She emphasized that multimodal transport has become an indispensable necessity, featuring prominently on the agendas of all governments dedicated to sustainable development and ensuring security.

“Discussions revolved around railway electrification, the new electric vehicle fleets, the development of green ports and their integration with dry ports, and notably, projects with regional impact, reflecting that transport transcends national borders. On this occasion, I highlighted the significant progress Albania has made in road transport and civil aviation, alongside new port-related projects that have elevated Albania into a new category alongside developed nations,” the Minister stated.

The Global Transport and Connectivity Forum once again reiterated the call for enhanced cooperation between countries and regions to implement joint projects that transcend borders and contribute to a more connected and secure future for all. /j.p/sm/
