On the 100th anniversary of the Albanian Forestry Service, Rama said that, “we have done a lot to conserve this precious national asset.”

“100 years of the Albanian Forestry Service, with the conviction that we have done a lot for the protection of this precious national asset, from the law dedicated to their management, to the moratorium, yet we face a greater challenge in putting forests at the heart of sustainable development,” Rama said.

The first Albanian law “On Albanian forestry” was decreed on January 27, 1923, which is commemorated as the Day of the Albanian Forestry Service.

The protection of forests, according to this law, was intended to protect the property of all Albanians, be it private, municipal or state ownership. This law was   based on the principles of sustainable development, requiring the rigorous application of sustainability principles to preserve natural balances.
