Vata/ Minister of Interior Blendi Çuçi stated on Wednesday that the Council of Ministers adopted the decision for granting Albanian citizenship to foreign citizens who have made outstanding contributions in the field of education, science and sports.

Çuçi explained that “this decision is a complement to the new law on citizenship that we have adopted.”

“It lays down all the procedures, criteria and deadlines of state institutions that are involved in this process with view to granting Albanian citizenship as soon as possible to persons with outstanding contributions,” he said.

Çuçi added that “by this decision, other than treating in a special way the personalities of education and science, we enable the absorption of new talents or record holders to represent the Albanian state in international competitions upon the acquisition of Albanian citizenship.”
