TIRANA, May  4 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated Thursday at the ceremony for announcement of the winning project for the new stadium in Durrës, that the Manchester City Academy in Durrës and the Football School open up a whole new perspective.

“The Manchester City Academy in Durres and the Football School will turn Durres into a destination for talents on a national and regional scale. We have received the exclusivity to become a hub for the entire region, for the countries of the Balkans and beyond. And if a second academy is built in the Balkans, the municipality of Durrës will be a partner. This opens up another perspective. The parallel step is for us to set up our Durrës City group. It will be a nucleus that will develop in the future and as a team on its own,” Rama said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the Football Academy and School serve all the clubs in Albania.

“It is not exclusive to talents and small or young players, who, necessarily belong to Manchester City upon entering here. The Academy is at the service of all the clubs that, based on the selection made by the Academy managers, bring their athletes and they return to the clubs after the education and development of the talent to the full. If there are talents belonging to other clubs and Manchester City is interested in them, it enters into direct negotiations with them,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister announced that the number of young people who are registered in the football system in Albania, in that system, which as Rama pointed out, still needs to take shape, and those who are registered in the European football system is unbelievable.

“There are over 100,000 young Albanians registered in European football systems. We believe that the talent in Albania, and in our entire national family, which must be supported and developed, provides a fantastic basis, not only for football, but as we learned from the final of the “Conference League” for Albania, for its image, economy and tourism,” the Prime Minister said.

PM informed that in partnership with the Football Federation, football fields will be built in every administrative unit.
