Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, was on Sunday in Pogradec together with the team of the task force set up by AKU, which monitors the situation on the ground to guarantee quality food for all local and foreign consumers.

In her remarks, Krifca assured that the National Food Authority has followed the work plan focused on the spots which see influx of visitors and tourists.

“In Pogradec, during the summer months, the population increases twofold. The AKU team has increased controls and presence in entities that sell food such as minimarkets, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, cafes or fast food shops and various food processing factories. The aim is to check the parameters of the implementation of food safety,” the minister said.
Krifca emphasized that “food is a very important passport for tourism and the increased number of visitors.”

Krifca drew attention to a case of fraud with food labels detected in a supermarket in Korça, for which immediate measures have been taken.

She pointed out that AKU will show zero tolerance towards such illegal activities.
