In a statement to ATA, the Mayor of Lezhë, Pjerin Ndreu, announced that 20% of the city’s territory is currently affected by flooding.
“We do not yet have an accurate assessment of how many hectares of agricultural land are inundated, but we are actively monitoring the situation on the ground. At present, classes have been suspended in two schools due to flooding in the city center. 20% of the city’s area is covered by floodwaters,” said Ndreu.
Rivers are rising due to increased flows, flooding some agricultural land but not residential areas. Authorities are conducting house-to-house checks and coordinating with local representatives, with no evacuations needed so far, Ndreu said.

Earlier, the Municipality of Lezhë informed heavy rains and hydropower discharges are expected to worsen conditions in Lezhë, and residents are urged to call +355 68 367 8727 in case of emergencies or flooding in their homes.
The Municipality of Lezhë is on full alert, closely monitoring the situation to ensure immediate response and support for flooding-affected residents.
