Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of the initiative on social media today, saying that “new spaces are taking shape in the villages of Korçë, where local traditions, flavours and the hard work of locals are becoming an integral part of the experience offered to visitors.”

Rama stressed that “through the ‘Flavours of the Region’ project, a joint initiative of the Albanian Development Fund and Korçë Municipality, the centres of several villages will be transformed into new hubs for the production, promotion and tasting of traditional local products.”

In the village of Qatrom, the project is taking shape through the creation of the “Cherry House”, a dedicated space for the production and promotion of cherries and cherry-based products.

The facility includes areas for production and tasting, spaces for workshops, as well as a shop selling local products. The new facilities will also form part of a tourist itinerary, giving visitors the opportunity to see first-hand how the products are prepared, sample them and purchase them.

The “Flavours of the Region” project aims to create new opportunities for local residents by supporting domestic production and increasing household incomes. For visitors, it offers a new way to explore the villages of Korçë through their distinctive local produce and culinary traditions.
