TIRANA, March 27/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party in opposition Sali Berisha spoke today during a consultative meeting with Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Business Associations on the topic of “Developing a platform for sustainable economic development”.

Berisha extended greetings to the entrepreneurs of Albania who, according to him, exercise their activity in difficult conditions like in no other country.

“I guarantee you and all entrepreneurs that we will do the utmost so that this country produces as much as possible, with the highest quality and with the highest competitiveness. We believe that the alpha and omega of our program must be the economy”, said Berisha.

“Chairman of the Chamber Nikolin Jaka presented some of the most serious concerns about the construction sector. He said that taxes in this sector have increased 10 and 12-fold. Then, the builders are obliged to reflect the tax increase in the house prices. Thus, the new homes turn into forbidden apples or you have to work for decades to buy an apartment,” Berisha continued.

The democratic leader appreciated that, “The second powerful sector on which Albania relies is tourism.”

“But, in the government’s estimation, 10 million tourist arrivals, but 7 million overnight stays imply an informality of 80 percent,” he said while making a comparison with Montenegro that in 2024 had about 2.7 million arrivals and more than 15 and a half million overnights.

Berisha said that an emergency intervention is vital, “a real revolution in the economy with which we believe we will mark a radical turn.”

“A flat tax of 10 percent will be imposed. It has been proven as the fairest tax, it has been confirmed as a tax that gives breath to the economy. We applied the flat tax in 2005 and not only did we suffer any decrease in income, but we had a double-increase of incomes. Also, the 10 percent tax will remain a stimulus for all other taxes”, added Berisha.

“We will progressively reduce the social contribution obligation. Also, VAT is no longer taboo. It will be reduced to 15 percent with the aim of reducing it even lower. Electricity price will be the cheapest in Europe 6 lekë per kilowatt hour. The property sales tax will be reduced to 2 percent from the current 15 percent,” Berisha said, among other things./a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, July 21/ATA/ The head of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats Lulzim Basha reconfirmed the commitment made public in the June 1st Program Assembly for the flat tax.

The economic plan of the Euro-Atlantic democrats foresees the flat tax of 9%, profit tax of 9%, personal income tax of 9%, the dividend with the flat tax of 9% even for the self-employed, which, according to Lulzim Basha, strengthens entrepreneurship and the self-employed. bringing well-being and economic development to Albanian families.

“The unaffordable living costs, high taxes, government arbitrariness, Clientelism that kills competition, corruption that prevents economic development, are the real problems that affect the life of every Albanian. Therefore, our dedication is all about solving them, through an ambitious program, with which we aim to improve the well-being and create opportunities for all Albanians without distinction.

The plan of the Euro-Atlantic democrats for the economy, with low taxes, good administration and transparency, releases the country’s potential, develops entrepreneurship, promotes employment, strengthens the middle class, increases the income and purchasing power of Albanian families. Albania deserves more”, wrote Basha in the social media.

In the video he shared, a young engineer speaks about the heavy fiscal burden hurting the middle class.

For Basha, this is a tyranny of the government against the middle class that will end very soon.

“We will end the tyranny over the middle class and Albanian entrepreneurship. With the 9% flat tax on profit tax and on personal income tax, we will guarantee the empowerment of Albanian entrepreneurship and free professions. This will bring economic well-being and economic development for Albanian families and for Albania”, said Basha. /r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, September 21 /ATA/ Albania is applying the progressive tax since the Socialists came in power in 2013.

Thanks to this policy, the civil servants in the public administration with small or middle salaries have benefited 960 million USD in the course of 8 years.

While during the period 2006-2013 when the Democrats were in power and applied the 10% flat tax, these money remained in the budget while the big business and people of high salaries were relieved.

The progressive tax remains a fundamental pillar of the Rama 3 government aiming to ensure the well-being for all.

“We abide by the principle that who gains more should pay more. Thus, the low-income citizens will be helped. The basic salary to be subject of tax will get increased from 30 to 38 or 40 thousand lekë by end of mandate. This means that 435 thousand employees or 63.8 % of the people employed in the country will pay zero tax”- stated Finance Minister Delina Ibrahimaj while presenting to Parliament economic and fiscal policies to be pursued during the third mandate of this ruling majority.

Ibrahimaj also said that the government will support the middle class through reviewing the level of progressive tax.

“The 23% tax will be applied at the end of the mandate only for salaries higher than 250 thousand lekë”, said she.

At present, an employee of 34 thousand lekë salary pays under the progressive tax only 520 lekë, but he used to pay 3400 lekë under 10% flat tax.

While an employee of 180 thousand lekë salary pays today 22 500 lekë tax as compared to 18 thousand lekë he used to pay before 2013-s. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, April 1/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that from the flat tax proposed by the Democratic Party, the big business wins, while small business is affected. The prime minister made the statement in Kavaja, where he introduced the Socialist Party candidates for the April 25 elections.

“The flat tax is the same for everyone and whoever is small suffers from it. It is not taxation for the big ones. They win, the little ones get affected from it”, stated Rama.

According to the prime minister, today small business has zero profit tax and VAT.

“Small business with a turnover of up to 14 million Lek has zero profit tax and the one with a turnover of up to 10 million Lek per year has zero VAT until 2029”, said Rama.

“Why will you vote for Dr. Berisha and Dr. Vasili”, Rama asked the question

The prime minister also informed that from January 1 of next year, the tax on salaries up to 40 thousand Lek will be removed./j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, March 7/ATA/- “The 9% flat tax of the opposition has more to it than meets the eye because 9% of it is a prepayment, then come the other payments of misgovernment and incompetence.”

During a conversation with the citizens in Lezha, when asked about the opposition’s proposal to reduce taxes for big business, Prime Minister Rama said that, “We do not promise you a tax reduction, he promises you”.

“The flat tax is a tax in favor of those who have more. They tell you 9%, but there is more to it than meets the eye because 9% of them are prepayments, then come the other payments of misgovernment, of incompetence to all those they have shown how many times they have taken something in hand”, he said.

He added that, “What is important is that no matter how big a business you do, if you are surrounded by an atmosphere and environment where other things do not take place and where people do not feel well, then the conditions for growing a business are very limited than in the case when things around develop and take on a different look. We have a dividing line with the other side.”

For us, whoever earns more must pay more; whoever earns less must pay less. We will not increase taxes for big business, but we will not reduce the tax for big business. I do not believe that today ‘s tax on big business is a heavy tax, I believe it is an honest tax. “15% for everyone is the same as an honest tax”, he emphasized./p.s./

TIRANA, February 28 /ATA/- A nurse would pay more if the flat tax was in force rather than she currently pays with the progressive tax.

Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed a question to his followers on the social network Instagram, in the section “100 achievements in 4 years” regarding the tax that a nurse must pay according to the progressive and flat tax system.

Rama also made a calculation of the difference between the contribution she has to pay according to the flat and the progressive tax.

“The flat tax of 10% means that a nurse would pay 78,000 Lek per year. Today, with the progressive tax she pays 54,600 Lek or 23.400 Lek less per year than before./p.s./
