Vata/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Saturday met with fishermen in the coastal city of Durres, pledging that his government is ready to work and help to clear the way for distant-water fishing of the Albanian fishing industry to Senegal and Libya.

“Expanding distant-water fishing of the Albanian fishing industry,” Rama said.

During conversation, the government head urged fishermen to establish a delegation and together visit  Senegal to meet the country’s President and discuss ways to open a corridor so that they could fish there. PM Rama said that the same could be done also in Libya.

Presenting the next year’s state budget for the country’s fishing industry, PM Rama said that 32 more companies are expected to be licensed to exercise their activity in fishing industry, where 720 subjects operate currently.

The Premier also said that fishermen have become a factor in the most difficult, yet richest market of the whole continent from Northern Europe to Nordic countries.
