TIRANA, July 12/ATA/ In the first quarter of this year, the Albania’s economic growth is estimated at 5.53%, while the government expects this growth rate to continue throughout the year.

The Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj expressed optimism while recalling the economic incentives undertaken during the difficult year due to the pandemic and the earthquake of 2019, as the main factors that led to rapid growth of the country’s economy.

“Economic growth of 5.53% in the first quarter of this year is good news, given that the economy grew by 2.29% compared to the last quarter of 2020, and we strongly believe that we will achieve the target of an increase of 5.5% throughout the year,” Minister Denaj said in a televised interview.

“Any change to the budget is valid to boost economic incentives with economic growth as the main objective. The increase of ALL 11.8 billion in investments will have a positive impact on both the economy and employment. We have not strayed from the objective of fiscal consolidation. Fiscal stimulus need to be provided even during the next year, just like the EU countries whose fiscal stimulus have been extended for years,” Minister Denaj said.

“We need to return to fiscal consolidation path which will have a major impact on the economic growth,” Denaj added. //a.i/
