Vata/ The deputy chairman of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, reacted on Wednesday over the increase in the price of fuel.

In a posting, Tabaku says that we are approaching an economic crisis that will have calamitous consequences for the pockets of the citizens.

“The price of oil is going up to 300 lek / liter and this means that all other products will increase in cost causing the income of citizens to shrink. The threat of stagflation is hanging over Albania, so people will spend more on oil and less on necessities. In a country where 40% of revenues go to staples and non-alcoholic beverages, this means spending more on fewer items. All this is not only attributed to Putin, nor to the war, the Rama government has increased taxes on diesel oil since 2014. Today taxes and tariffs constitute almost 60% of the oil, while Albanians have the lowest salaries in the region. An irresponsible government that is more disposed to justify itself than get to work to help Albanians overcome the crisis is not a government for the citizens . It is time for action rather than propagate ideas,” she said.

Tabaku also points out that the only way out of this situation is to relax fiscal rules and reduce taxes.
