TIRANA, Feb 22 /ATA/ Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, Vasilika Vjero, said that, “there are over 100 thousand businesses that are exempted from profit tax, 46 thousand other businesses that are exempted from the VAT scheme and an income of over 5 billion ALL remains in the hands of entrepreneurship to get back on their feet and grow.”

During a televised interview, Vjero stressed that, “the government has injected adequate financial and fiscal support for recovery of economy, which was hit hard during 2020 by the COVID-19 earthquake and pandemic –induced restrictions.”

According to her, “support with financial packages for citizens and business and disbursement of 34 million ALL from the state budget for post-earthquake reconstruction program are intended to bring economy back on track.”

“During last year, the budget indicators recorded a significant decline and economic growth slowed down and did not run at the rates projected at the beginning of the year, prompting the government to review the budget several times, in order to accommodate all demands related to the pandemic management, but also to help and assist businesses and individuals in distress,” she said.

According to her, during 2020 the economy recorded a decline of -5%, but it will bounce back this year and next year.
