TIRANA, May 7 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Tuesday that, in the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana, there are 80 cases of fiscal evasion worth hundreds of millions of euros that have not yet been investigated.

In the meeting held on Tuesday with the Parliamentary Group and the Government Cabinet on governance, law, corruption and the New National Initiative for Albania 2030, Rama said that, “Prosecutors and judges of the Special Anticorruption Structure did not come out of the blue. They were educated and have worked here in Albania. They have found themselves maturing in a justice system, full of snakes and lizards around their feet, as was the system that the justice reform pulled down on paper, but that will take its time to function completely as in the written Constitution and in the relevant laws and in the entire territory of the Republic of Albania.

“SPAK and the prosecutor’s office of Tirana are at a physical distance of less than 1 kilometer. SPAK inquires even about an ordinary employee, or a bidding procedure. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana is turning a blind eye to fiscal evasion. There are roughly 80 such cases. Among those cases there are those who are otherwise called oligarchs. We have referred these cases. It is about hundreds of millions of euros in tax avoidance”, said Rama.
