“During 2023, 3,498 inspections were carried out and in result only 42 administrative measures were imposed. I can’t believe there are so few violations. I see two possibilities, either the inspections on operators are selective, meaning only those that do not have problems are checked for irregularities, or they were carried out without analyzing the real problems,” the minister said.
He underscored the key importance of this vital service for citizens.

“If an inspection is not carried out in a building, it is more likely to be affected by a disaster such as fire outbreak and after the cause is established, which could be failure to inspect in this case falls into abuse of duty”, he said.

The minister appealed for the integrity of the Fire Protection inspectors. Further on, Balla underlined the need for total reformation of the Fire Service, at the national inspection level.

“The fire service needs more standardization and improvement, both in the General Directorate and also at the local level,” Balla said in a meeting held with the heads of the Service in 61 local units in Albania.

The minister also underlined the need for completing bylaws on recruitment, training, data management, as well as improving the transparency of business inspections.
