In a joint press conference in Tirana with the Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, Prime Minister Rama informed that “the meeting focused on what is about to happen or not happen in the coming days regarding the official opening of accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia through intergovernmental conferences. ”

“I told the prime minister that I do not expect anything new from this Council, yet the EU, Finland and other member states are trying with Bulgaria to open a path of reason and to unblock the process. We are very grateful for that, ” said Rama.

Rama stressed that “this is the first visit at this level since the establishment of diplomatic relations and it comes at times of adversity for Europe, for NATO and for the whole community of democratic countries.”

“I would also like to thank from the bottom of my heart here in Tirana the Prime Minister for Finland’s unstinting support towards Albania in the European accession process, for the fair and honest attitude towards us and for the help that Finland has given to us when any other country tried to find faults due to domestic policy, I used Finland and said: ‘how is it possible that Finland does not have these problems with us, although it is universally recognized as the country with the highest standards of transparency and accountability across our continent’.
