TIRANA, June 22 /ATA/ Fiqiri Curri, a farmer in Ndroq, has been cultivating grapes, melons, watermelons, and seasonal vegetables for years on six dynym of greenhouse land.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, shared his story on social media, portraying it as a model example that, as she noted, “strengthens the local economy and promotes ‘Made in Albania’ products in international markets.”

The Minister noted that through his agricultural activity, this farmer contributes to the development of the local economy while also generating income for his family.

Minister Denaj explained that, through the National Investment Scheme offering a 50% grant, along with support from Soft Loans combined with the Sovereign Guarantee, farmers can access financing with an interest rate as low as 2% and collateral coverage of up to 70%.

The Sovereign Guarantee, with a fund of 3 billion lek (approximately 30 million euros), is an instrument designed to support the private sector by facilitating access to finance for farmers and Small and Medium -Sized Enterprises (SMEs).

The Sovereign Guarantee, combined with the soft loan provided by the Bank of Albania, reduces the interest rate to just 2% and covers up to 70% of the collateral for loans of up to 25 million lek per beneficiary. This creates favorable financing conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises operating in agricultural production, agri-processing, rural tourism, and aquaculture.

The terms of this scheme are highly advantageous, offering coverage of up to 70% of the loan principal, with the maximum loan amount set at 25 million lek for each eligible applicant.
