TIRANA, April 23 /ATA/ The European Union is assisting the Albanian Financial Intelligence Agency in enhancing the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing by simulating the Moneyval evaluation process.
The GIZ program, funded by the European Union and the German Government, supported the organization of a simulation exercise focused on overseeing freelance professions and certain non-financial businesses.

Key supervisory and licensing bodies, including the Ministry of Justice, the Public Oversight Board, the Gambling Regulatory Authority, and the Albanian Bar Association, discussed risk-based approaches and efforts to raise awareness among the entities they oversee.

Representatives from the private sector, including notaries, real estate agents, casinos, lawyers, legal auditors, and certified accountants, were also present to discuss their role as reporting entities.

This exercise is a crucial step in preparing for Albania’s 6th evaluation round by the Moneyval Committee and highlights the value of cooperation between public institutions and the private sector.
These activities were organized through the European Integration Partnership Platform. /j.p/sm/
