TIRANA, Jan 22/ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ The construction site of Fier’s Regional Hospital has been established with the construction works carried out on three shifts and 1200 employees set to be hired in its construction process that will last 3 months.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku and Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu went to Fier on Friday to see first-hand the progress of works on the construction site.

While getting informed on the preparations so far, Rama asked Minister Balluku to hold constructive meetings with the expropriated families and offer them the opportunity to work on this construction site.

“Engage them in whatever position they can work, depending on their skills and their needs. From the camp guard, construction worker, or other skills. After giving their data, talk to the company and give them the opportunity to be employed, if they want to be involved, ” said Rama.

Meanwhile, Minister Balluku informed that “we started the operation after a week of preparatory work. We have concluded the expropriation of 12 families settled in their area in coordination with the Municipality of Fier. The landowners have shown understanding and the process has successfully completed, ” said Balluku.

The Minister went on saying that OSHEE is taking prompt measures to supply the camp with electricity following the same steps as those for laying the water pipe line.
“We have started working for the construction site and by Monday over 200 employees and about 20 engineers will start working on the hospital construction and everything else needed in terms of the logistics,” said Balluku.

Although a good part of the employees, according to the minister, come from Turkey, we are in communication to hire local workforce as well. “We have taken the measures to provide housing for all employees from Turkey. We have also accommodated them in Patos and the surrounding areas. We count on the municipality of Fier for their daily transport, so this part will not be on the donors. We are waiting for other groups to come for the electrical connection, heating, air conditioning, etc. Meanwhile, we are on time and we have had effective cooperation with all state institutions,” said Balluku.

The Minister added that “even though the weather is not in our favor, we working in all directions. Work continues uninterruptedly on the ground. “OSHEE immediately laid down the overhead power line and is working on three-phase power supply as requested by the Ministry of Health”, said Balluku.
Based on the project, the hospital is located parallel to the road spanning 15 thousand square meters, of which 13 thousand are hospital settings and the rest are ancillary facilities and parking lots.

For her part, Minister Manastirliu said that “we have completed the technical medical aspect. “The hospital will consist of 6 ward wings. The Ministry of Health has concluded all the technical details regarding the equipment and devices. The agreement to be approved by the Council of Ministers any time soon sets out the details for the hospital furnishing and medical devices. The modalities for the bilateral administration of the hospital have been defined either,” said Manastirliu.
