TIRANA, March 24 /ATA/ The director of Public Health Institute, Albana Fico, stated on Wednesday that the numbers of COVID-19 infections have decreased, yet they are not at the levels deemed appropriate to relax the measures.

“We constantly monitor the situation in the country. The two-weekly incidence for the period March 10-23 has dropped from 418 to 268 per 100 thousand inhabitants. The positivity of the sampling has decreased. The daily average of positive cases has decreased from 654 to 532,” said Fico.

Also, Fico said that “the total number of active cases has decreased from 33 553 to 33 194.

“The number of municipalities reporting daily infections until March 22 has dropped from 37 to 34. The infection ratio male – female is 52 to 48 with fatalities in the male group,” she said.
PHI director said that the average number of hospitalizations has dropped to 394 from 466.”

“Even though we have continued with vaccination, we must be clear that the indicators have not dropped to the level that we deem appropriate to relax the measures. Even the charts of Europe indicate a spike in infection numbers, so I appeal to citizens to wear the mask, maintain social distancing, follow the rules and measures in place,” Fico said.
