TIRANA, July 19/ATA/ The high influx of passengers to Albania has made the Port Authority of Durrës increase the operating lines of the ferries and at the same time the windows for the handling of passenger data.

Captain of the Port of Durrës Taulant Allka said today in a statement for ATA that the Port’s Leading Board has approved additional measures for managing the situation, in order to provide the best possible service to all citizens who want to travel to our country and vice versa.

“At the last meeting, the Board approved additional measures to successfully deal with the influx of passengers,” said Allka.

He said that the passengers’ influx is expected to increase during these last 2 weeks of July and during the month of August.

For this reason, Allka said that the Board decided to double the number of ferries that will operate in the Port.

“Beginning from tomorrow, for 4 days in a row, that is, from Thursday to Sunday, every week, there will be 5 ferries operated per day, enabling the movement of an average of 7,000 passengers per day. For the time being, there are 4-5 thousand passengers per day”, said Allka for ATA.

According to Allka, the data system shows that all tickets for July and August have been booked.

Also, Allka told ATA that they will work with increased capacities also in terms of windows.

“There have been taken measures to handle passengers with maximum capacity. There will be 32 windows, 20 for cars and 12 for passengers who will pass through the terminal”, said the Port Captain.

Allka also said that according to the data handling results the highest influx of passengers during the last 2 weeks of July is from Switzerland, while during August there is an expansion of arrivals from all EU countries. /p.s./
