TIRANA, June 29/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media a view of the first Via Ferrata (Iron Path) in Albania, which is located in the village of Kuç and is frequented by many tourists who are passionate about hiking.

“In addition to the sea, there is also something like this in Kuç,” Rama wrote in the social media.

A via ferrata is a route with fixed protection that aids travelers in moving safely through the mountains.

The first via ferrata in Albania is located in the village of Kuç, in Himara region, and is called Via Ferrata Himara.

It was developed with the support of the Tourism Innovation Platform (TIP).

The project was implemented by Çeta Hiking after they won first place in a competition for the construction of a via ferrata.

The first 100 meters of this trail were financed by GIZ, and an additional 150 meters were financed by the Albanian Development Fund (ADF). Thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding between GIZ, the Albanian Development Fund and the Municipality of Himara, this new product is becoming a reality.

Located in a wild area still untapped by tourism, the Via Ferrata in Kuç will create a unique experience before tourists descend towards the southern coast.

This development not only diversifies the tourist offer in the region, but also creates new economic opportunities for local residents and tour operators, giving the area a new attractive dimension for visitors and people fond of adventure. /gj.m/ /a.f/p.s./
