TIRANA, March 17/ATA/ After months of decline, Albanian exports rebounded in February, driven by increased sales in electricity, mineral fuels, and a strong performance in the supporting automotive industry.

According to the foreign trade report published by the Institute of Statistics in February 2026, in February 2026, the value of exports was ALL 30.9 billion, increasing by 2.8 % compared with the same period of the previous year and by 15.8 % compared with January 2026.

According to INSTAT, in the annual increase of exports this month, a positive contribution was given by the groups: “Mineral, fuels, electricity” with +6.3 percentage points and “Machinery, equipment and spare parts” with +0.7 percentage points.

Growth is mainly fueled by beneficial energy costs and increased exports of mechanical and electronic components.

Meanwhile, several key sectors of the economy continued to show weakness.

Several sectors dragged down the overall figure, led by ‘Food, beverages, and tobacco’ at -2.1 percentage points, followed by ‘Textiles and footwear’ at -1.1 and ‘Construction materials and metals’ at -0.9 percentage points.

The decline in the food sector is also related to the damage caused by floods, which affected agricultural production, especially greenhouses. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/ – Albania’s agricultural exports increased by 18% year-on-year in terms of their quantity during February 2025, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj said on Friday.

“Official data show that agricultural exports rose 18% in terms of quantity and 15% in terms of value compared to the same period of the previous year,” Denaj said.

Denaj noted that growth in exports of Made in Albania products clearly shows improved quality and empowerment of the Albanian farmers.

According to her, this performance aligns with the government’s broader objective to reach 1 billion dollars in agricultural exports by 2030, demonstrating that agriculture remains a critical pillar of the economy.

The growth in agricultural exports reflects both the increasing competitiveness of Albanian products in international markets and the success of government initiatives to support farmers.

Albanian government has significantly increased state budget support for the agricultural and rural development in 2025.

Government policies have played key role in increased investment projects aimed at improving quality and standards of the locally grown produce. The rising export volumes are further solidifying Albania’s role as a reliable supplier in foreign markets, particularly in Europe.

Albania’s agricultural fresh produce exports include medicinal plants and herbs, watermelon, tomato, cucumber, citrus, vegetables, lettuce, medicinal plants and herbs, apple and quince, fish, olive oil, essential oils etc.
