TIRANA, June  27  /ATA/ The extractive industry continued in the first quarter of this year to be one of the activities with the largest inflows of foreign direct investment.

The Bank of Albania announces that foreign investments in the extractive industry amounted to a total of 39 million euros, in the first quarter of 2022, recording a slight increase compared to the same quarter of 2021.

The flows in this sector consist mainly of reinvested profits of existing companies in the crude oil extraction activity.

The steep increase in crude oil prices in international markets this year seems to have stimulated the increase of foreign investments in oil extraction in Albania.

Albania is considered as one of Europe’s richest countries in hydrocarbon reserves and the company SHELL is recently another major investment in the field of oil in our country.
