TIRANA, July  4 /ATA/- The implementation of the cross-border project Albania, Italy, Montenegro, “Food4Health”, financed by the European Union, through the Instrument of Financial Assistance for Cooperation (Interreg), is intended to promote the improvement of the value chain for typical local products.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, at the same time the President of CIHEAM, on her official visit to Italy, during the meeting of the CIHEAM Board of Directors, also stopped in Tricase, at the Center of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute (CIHEAM), which in partnership with the region of Puglia, the region of Molise, is implementing this project.

According to the sources from the Ministry of Agriculture, Minister Krifca visited the “FOOD4HEALTH” community laboratory in Tricase, built as an initiative of the “Interreg” project, with the aim of transferring technologies for processing the products of small farmers and fishermen, certified according to international standards.

“I had the opportunity to see first-hand the implementation of the activities in the framework of the joint regional approach for the economic development of local communities. With our partners from Italy and Montenegro, we exchanged experiences, which aim to support smallholder and medium-sized farmers and producers,” said Krifca.

This project, the minister said, will improve the value chain for typical local products, supporting them in increasing competitiveness and accessing new markets.
