TIRANA, Feb  8  /ATA/ The Council of Ministers adopted on Wednesday the agreement on the implementation of the program for “Sustainable Development of Rural Areas in Albania.”

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, broke the news to the journalists at a briefing after the government meeting.

She said that, “this is the second program in our country designed to meet this goal which is a funding of 7.5 million euros from the Federal Republic of Germany.”

The minister emphasized that, “the objectives of this program are aligned with the priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture, laid down in the national strategy 2027. The program is designed to boost exports, increase income for farmers, introduce innovations in the service of production efficiency, add greenhouse surfaces and ultimately implement in our country the policies of the European Union’s green agenda.”

“This program will support through funds and expertise the creation of self-sufficient farms, which will be able to compete qualitatively in the market. The program also aims to encourage in Albania the implementation of cost-effective production practices as well as to improve the climate of doing business in rural Albanian areas,” she said.

She said that, “this program will also be part of support for our administrative and institutional capacities on the path to the European Union accession.”
