TIRANA, April 11 /ATA- By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Saturday underlined the importance of farmer cooperation as essential for meeting standards required for access to the European Union market.

Speaking at a meeting with farmers in Krutje, in the Lushnja region, Rama cited examples of successful producers who have joined forces in collection, packaging, marketing and sales processes, becoming more competitive in the market.

He said such initiatives would receive full government support, adding that local municipalities also play a key role in facilitating their development.

“There is no more time to waste debating whether this is necessary or not. Of course, it is necessary, but there is a delay in doing business. The idea is that cooperation is in the interest of both sides, and both sides benefit. It is very simple,” Rama said.

The prime minister stressed that cooperation is also driven by the need to adapt to the demands of the European market.

“We will be in a market with many opportunities, but also with potentially fatal challenges for a company. To become part of that market, it is not enough to meet food safety standards for Albanians; we must apply the same European standards here as well,” he added.
