TIRANA, October 27/ATA/ Plenary Assembly of FATF has taken the decision to remove Albania from the grey list, otherwise known as countries under more stringent monitoring.

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, stated today that this decision implies the strengthening of Albania on the international stage, the creation of favorable conditions for further foreign investments, the reduction of the costs of the national debt as well as the consolidation of commercial exchanges and services.

Balluku was present at the meeting of the Plenary Assembly of FAFT.

“The commitment of the Albanian Government, the work to fulfill the reforms, the reformation of the Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering into a Financial Intelligence Agency, the investment in the fundamental change of laws and the digitization of processes, have all been steps that have been appreciated by international partners and FATF members that today held its plenary session taking a series of important decisions, one of which is a milestone for Albania, its exit from the grey list. This decision undoubtedly brings the strengthening of Albania on the international stage, the creation of favorable conditions for further foreign investments, the reduction of national debt costs, the consolidation of trade and service exchanges and a number of other benefits that derive from this new position of Albania”, she stated.

According to Balluku, the fight for prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism is and has been the focus of the struggle of the Albanian Government and will remain one of its main commitments in cooperation with strategic partners./p.s./
