Rama said that this modern technique applied for cataract surgery is an important step towards improving the quality of life for patients.

“The technique used during cataract surgery is Phacoemulsification, i.e. the eye’s internal lens is emulsified using ultrasonic energy and replaced with an intraocular lens implant. Prime Minister Edi Rama, in context of the “Beautiful Albania” feature in the social media, shared today images from the “Blue Eye”, where young people bathe in the cold waters of the spring.

“Blue eye” is located near the village of Muzina, by the national road Delvina-Gjirokastra, about 30 minutes away from Saranda.

It is a natural asset of Albania, which by decision of January 2022 has received a higher protection status, that of “Natural Park”, with an area increased to 293 hectares, so that to better protect the Natural Monument with the same name, which is inside the park.

In recent years, the “Blue Eye” has attracted many visitors from different countries of the world.

The new infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists has radically changed the tourist route to this natural park, making it more accessible to tourists.

Director of the Administration of Protected Areas in Vlora Edi Breshani said today for ATA that, “After building of the new road infrastructure and the creation of more suitable surroundings for visitors to the “Blue Eye” Natural Park, the number of visitors during 2023 has been growing every month”.

“From January to September, there were 185,305 visitors to the “Blue Eye”, of which 60,821 were locals and 124,484 were foreigners,” Breshani said.

According to him, even during October, this natural park continues to attract local and foreign tourists.

Breshani also said that the National Agency of Protected Areas new master plan carries the paths within the “Blue Eye” Natural Park, the sign posts that has been missing for many years and some observation points for tourists of special interest.

“Also, the Ministry of Tourism and National Agency of Protected Areas are working to increase the services at this tourist point in cooperation with the local businesses of the area”, said Breshani.

The “Blue eye” is located in the vicinity of Muzin village, near the national road Delvinë-Gjirokastër, about 30 minutes away from Saranda. It is the largest and most beautiful water spring in Albania, which enjoys the status of a natural monument.

Its depth, it reaches up to 45 meters. It is a source of fresh and sweet water surrounded by dense and evergreen vegetation. The source of the Bistrica River, which runs through a part of the south of Albania, really resembles a big round eye with a diameter of about ten meters.

Water and forest surfaces, meadows and agricultural lands are included within the protected area.
