TIRANA, June 11 /ATA/ Financial support and fiscal incentives are encouraging farmers to make investments in new agricultural greenhouses that guarantee all-year production.

In an interview with ATA, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dhimo Kote, said that the greenhouse-covered areas in our country expand by 100 ha each year.

“Greenhouse vegetable and fruit production businesses in recent years also constitute about 40% of the agricultural assets covered in our country. While Albania competes strongly with the exports of greenhouse agricultural crops, now with the arrival of the spring season and the peak production season, “Kote told ATA.

In recent years, agricultural exports “Made in Albania” have increased twofold, while revenues from exports have reached the three-digit number over the past year.

“Over 80% of agricultural greenhouse production is exported to foreign markets, mainly to EU countries. While the export market has expanded to 85 countries from 75 two years ago,” – Kote said.
Countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Germany and Sweden are showing a growing interest in “Made in Albania” agricultural products.

The government has increased the support of farmers for the expansion of greenhouse-covered areas, as a great potential of Albania to increase several times the production and exports of agricultural crops, being strongly favoured by the country’s climate, labour force and demand of European and domestic market for high quality “Made in Albania” products.

Through the National Scheme, the government finances 50% of the cost for the replacement of plastics in greenhouses, zero taxes on agricultural inputs and free oil, are some of the links in the support chain, on top of financing up to 60% of investment by IPARD for construction of new greenhouses up to EU standards.

TIRANA, April 6 /ATA/ Albania is growing strongly in terms of agricultural exports now with the arrival of spring and approach of peak production.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announces that only in recent years, Albanian agricultural exports have more than doubled, while export revenues have reached three digit numbers during 2020.

Over 80% of greenhouse production is exported to foreign markets, mainly to European countries, where demand is growing. The export market has expanded to 85 countries from 75 countries two years ago. Countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Germany and Sweden have increased their interest in “Made in Albania” agricultural products.

MARD points out that there is an increase in the number of farmers who produce mainly for export after ensuring GlobalGAP certification of agricultural crops and cultivating based on demand of exporter.

Zero taxes on agricultural inputs and machinery, as well as increase of financial support for agriculture, are encouraging the farmers to increase areas planted with agricultural crops and especially greenhouses that provide year-round production.
