TIRANA, May 2 /ATA/ On the verge of the summer season, the General Directorate of Archives (DPA) made a stop at one of the Ionian’s treasures to showcase a documentary and photographic exhibition that dives deep into the transformation of the tourist city of Himara over the past century.

In partnership with the Municipality of Himara, the DPA showcased a narrative along the city’s promenade highlighting the Riviera’s breathtaking beauty and local public activities, with a focus on the first half of the 20th century.

The event was attended by Mayor Vangjel Tavo, as well as many residents, tourists, and interested visitors.

Among the selected materials for the exhibition were the 1922 petition for the establishment of the Municipality of Himara, which until then had been a subprefecture of Vlora, correspondence between local residents and state authorities regarding general issues, the request for the reconstruction of the harbor pier, and the proposal for the creation of a national commercial fleet.

The exhibition will remain open until Saturday, May 3rd.

Promoting the nation’s documentary heritage is one of the key focuses of the DPA’s activities.
