TIRANA, July 7 /ATA/ Tirana welcomed two international events centered on aviation and tourism, highlighting air connectivity and cross-border travel packages.

Over the course of July 1 and 2, the Albanian Civil Aviation Authority showcased the spirit of an open, innovative, and increasingly interconnected Tirana within the region. These events were organized under the ON CLOUD NINE+ project, supported by the European Union’s Interreg IPA South Adriatic Programme.

At the core of the events was the strengthening of regional cooperation in the field of aviation, the development of a sustainable network of air routes, and the promotion of joint tourist packages between Albania, Italy, and Montenegro.

Coverage of third-party liability, insurance, and new challenges in air transport.

The first event, a workshop titled “Third-Party Liability Coverage in Air Transport and Insurance Aspects,” was held on July 1 in Tirana. Moderated by experts from the Civil Aviation Authority and guest speakers from Italy and Montenegro, participants discussed the challenges facing the aviation sector regarding legal liability toward passengers, risk assessment, and air insurance contracts.

The focus was not only on the existing legal framework, such as the Montreal Convention and EU legislation, but also on current issues like liability in cases of cyberattacks, pandemics, or unmanned aircraft. A dedicated session addressed the topic of “shared liability” in airport spaces, featuring practical examples and concrete analyses from representatives of insurance companies and air operators.

Shifting from dialogue to concrete action, the “B2B” meeting on cross-border tourism took place on the second day of the event, July 2, energizing the atmosphere at Europe House Tirana. Tourism operators from Albania, Italy, and Montenegro gathered to forge partnerships and share ideas for developing joint tourism packages.

The B2B meeting, held under the motto “Building Routes, Bridging Regions,” began with a discussion panel on regional connectivity and continued with operator presentations, testing sessions for the Sustainable Transport Action Plan, and discussions on strategies for digitally promoting destinations. The focus was clear: to transform the Southern Adriatic into an integrated zone for air, land, and sea travel, offering travelers a seamless experience.

A unique element of the day was the “Creative Tourism Walk” in the Tirana Castle area—an inspiring example of how culture, history, and gastronomy can coexist to create an attractive tourist destination.
