TIRANA, October 14 /ATA/ – “Wonders of Arbëria” was a unique spectacle to the stage of the Opera and Ballet House dedicated to Albanian folklore, traditions and national cultural heritage.

The artists of the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances, together with the “Kurbini Spring” ensemble, offered an evening filled with color, rhythm and emotion to the audience. The performance was received with applause from a hall packed with art lovers who, through music, song and dance, reconnected with the roots of Albanian culture.

The spectacle was a combination of the epic sounds of the lute, the magic of Albanian polyphony, and the energy of the Tropoja dance. A special place was also reserved for the “xhubleta”, sleeveless woolen dress—a symbol of our cultural heritage—alongside motifs showcasing the stone cities and the ancient tradition of transhumance, the seasonal movement of livestock from one grazing area to another. The evening also featured masters of Albanian folklore—such as Vendim Kapaj playing the shepherd’s flute and Pjetër Matusha with the traditional lute, alongside a two-stringed lute ensemble—who helped pass on these musical sounds and traditions across generations.

Through this performance, “Arbëria Wonders” highlighted the diversity of Albanian folklore and the importance of preserving and promoting it. The event brought together music, dance, traditional attire and cultural memory, transforming the stage into a space where Albanian tradition continues to live on and be passed down to younger generations. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, October 26 /ATA/ “Broken Horizons” was the title of the artistic conversation with painter Edi Hila held on Saturday evening.

The visual artist spoke with Corinne Diserens, an internationally renowned art historian and curator and Joa Ljungberg, curator at the Museum of Modern Art in Malmo, Sweden. The two participants in “Broken Horizons” are also representatives of the museums where Hila will present his works of art.

The meeting, moderated by Edi Muka, took place at Villa31 x Art Explora, now transformed into an artistic residency. Present were artists and art lovers, young people, art students, etc.

Edi Hila is one of the most important figures of the artistic scene not only in Albania, but in the entire region. He is a painter who has immortalized on canvas the transformation of Albania, but also the unstable reality of the world in which we live. Edi Hila was born in Shkodra in 1944, but lives and works in Tirana.

This year, the Hamburg Art Museum and the Malmö Modern Museum (Sweden) will open comprehensive exhibitions of his works of art. These are the first solo exhibitions of Edi Hila in Germany and Sweden.

Edi Hila made his artistic debut in the 1970s and 1980s, but was forced by the then communist regime to abandon his career in painting, which he resumed with the fall of the dictatorship.

His work is represented in museum collections such as: Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw; Musée national d’art modern Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Fonds municipal d’art contemporan de la Ville de Paris; FRAC Pays de la Loire, France; FRAC Auvergne, France, as well as in the National Gallery of Arts, Tirana. /r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, January 27 /ATA/ During the “Best 2022” gala evening, President of the Albanian Football Association Armand Duka delivered a greeting speech.

He highlighted the great successes that Albanian football has achieved during last year.

Duka said that this gala evening was organized with the aim of evaluating and stimulating the best, believing that we create inspiring models that the younger ones should follow.

“Our game – certainly the most beautiful in the world – besides being a race and a competition, it is also an educational and carries the idea of unity. We live in a society where there is a lot of debate, there are strong clashes of ideas and often, tension and conflict. But, there is a place where everyone puts aside differences, and where they come together, men and women, young and old, of the left wing and of the right wing. And this is football. Especially, our Red and Blacks National Team. There are precisely these magical features that make our game more exciting, putting on all actors a greater responsibility”, – said President Duka.

Further on, he listed some important achievements such as the launch of the “Football for the Nation” strategy, the organization in Tirana of an activity of international proportions, the final of the UEFA Conference League on May 25, in our “Air Albania” stadium, the inauguration of the “Kukës Arena” stadium in Kukës or even the construction of many new football fields in Durrës, Kukës, Tirana, Lushnjë, Shkodër, Orikum, Luz, etc.

The president also mentioned the inauguration of the Football House, a major and important work for the football infrastructure in the country, but also other initiatives within the framework of social responsibility or cooperation with educational institutions.

“Today, we are in an event that has a moment of thanksgiving. For those who are an example of success, they should also be motivation for every young man who will reach the top. They are boys and girls who have reached here with great work, daily sacrifices, with sweat while having faith in themselves. We all need these qualities to achieve results. They are the qualities of champions”, said President Duka, among other things./p.s./
