TIRANA, May 6 /ATA/ – Albania will host the host the 6th meeting of the European Political Community (EPC) on May 16, bringing together the heads of state or government from 44 European countries, Prime Minister Edi Rama affirmed on Tuesday.

Responding to comments on his “Sy m’Sy” social media segment, the government head stated that he will host leaders of the European continent, who will come together at Tirana’s main Skanderbeg square on May 16.

“On May 16, if you live abroad, I would invite you to turn your eyes upon Albania to see me hosting all leaders of the European continent, and not only EU leaders, at the Skanderbeg square,” PM Rama said.

Responding to another commenter, who wrote that Albanians should stop complaining if the ruling Socialist Party wins a fourth term in office, Rama said that “Albanians have the right to complain anytime they deem it appropriate,” adding that complaining means that there is more room for more ambition.

“I am dissatisfied with many things too and therefore I am also very keen and ambitious to make things better,” PM Rama stated.

TIRANA, May 1 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the Socialist Party chairman, announced on Thursday that Albania has gained reciprocal respect internationally and is no longer the submissive country that was once “trampled upon” by everyone.

At the wrapup electoral meeting in Berat, Rama focused on the European Political Community summit on May 16 in Tirana.

On May 16, leaders from across Europe will gather in Skanderbeg Square for the European Political Community summit. Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that Albania, although small in size, has gained international respect and is no longer a submissive nation. It is now a proud country that commands respect from others, who in turn, respect Albania.

Rama stressed that Albania is now one step away from joining the EU, marking the conclusion of its historic journey of democratic state-building.

“The EU does not accept members who have not completed the cycle of democratic state-building, and the strongest, most indisputable proof of this is that today we stand at the door alongside Montenegro. The path of our fate and history has been tangled in many twists and turns, more due to the wrongdoings within us than the actions of our enemies. We missed the train of history several times, but today it is before us, and we must see it and take it. By casting our vote for Albania’s EU membership and contributing our vote individually to help this country finally fulfill the prophecy of Gjergj Kastrioti, we will do something extraordinary for the nation. Albania in the EU will be a new Albania, a new force, a new organism,” said Rama.

TIRANA, Oct 6 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama described the European Political Community as an old idea that is revived in times of crisis.

The Albanian government head, who attended a reception hosted by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala in Prague ahead of the first-ever meeting of the European Political Community, a new group dedicated to advancing security and energy cooperation across the continent, answered to the reporters’ interest over the issues expected to be discussed at today’s meeting.

“Of course, it is not a new idea, it is a very old one, but reborn in times of crisis and I hope that no other crises would be needed to have another meeting like this one, but keep going after this meeting and build something that will be very important for the huge European community of countries and people,” PM Rama stated.

Asked about the added value of the European Political Community for Albania, PM Rama underscored that “Albania is part of the Western Balkan region that is surrounded by the EU borders and for us it is absolutely crucial that although not being EU members, we are all Europeans.”
