TIRANA, March 3 /ATA/ The European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) ranked Albania the only country in Europe with an increase in the number of flights in the week of February 24 to March 2, compared to the pre-pandemic period.

“Flights from Albania are 18% higher during the week of February 24-March 2 compared to the corresponding period of 2019,” according to the weekly report of Eurocontrol.
Eurocontrol reports that in February 2022, flight traffic increased by 71% compared to the same period of 2019.

Ryanair was the busiest airline operator with 1959 flights per day on average, followed by EasyJet with 1118 flights, Turkish Airlines with 1001 flights, Air France with 830 flights, Lufthansa with 797 flights and KLM with 634 flights.

This week also coincides with the dramatic developments in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion, which led to the closure of Ukrainian airspace on February 24 and the banning of Russian airlines from European airspace and of European airlines from Russian airspace.
