Benarda Banushaj, the Head of Department Management and Coordination of EU Funds, at the Directorate for the Coordination of the Digital Agenda and e-Gov Projects with Foreign Funds, provided an outline of Albania’s progress in e-governance and public service delivery via the online platforms, as well as goals for the implementation of the Digital eWallet.

During the two-day event, the project’s team released the main findings of the preliminary report, discussed planed activities under the EU4Digital initiative for the Western Balkans, with emphasis put on closer cooperation and knowhow exchange between Western Balkan countries.

The EU4 Digital initiative is a new initiative that aims to foster the region digital transition through both political and policy dialogues and identification of areas for investments in the Western Balkans. Funded by the European Union and the German government, the initiative aims to provide technical assistance to the countries in the region, enabling them to develop secure and sustainable digital infrastructure across the region; improving interoperability and e-governance of public services at central or regional level, including between the Western Balkans and the EU; supporting the digitalization of business in the Western Balkans.

The project is an important step towards Western Balkans integration into the EU’s digital agenda.
