National Council on European Integration hosts awareness meeting with young people from North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania

TIRANA, May 3 /ATA/ – The National Council on European Integration, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Institute and the Center Science and Innovation for Development (SCiDEV), a Tirana-based think tank that works in close collaboration with partners in the Western Balkans and European Union to contribute to democratization and sustainable social and economic development, hosted a meeting on parliament’s role in advancing the European Union integration process.

Students and young researchers from Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia attended the meeting.

The head of the National Council on European Integration, lawmaker Jorida Tabaku and participants discussed parliament’s role in the efforts to advance EU membership process, the current stage of EU accession talks of Albania and other Western Balkan countries, the challenges and needs the country faces and youth emigration.

Tabaku stated that the EU accession should not be seen as a purely political, but as a process serving the citizens.

Praising Assembly’s efforts to establish an institution open to the public, the opposition lawmaker called for larger youth participation in the decision-making processes in general and the integration process in particular.
