TIRANA, May 27 /ATA/ The European Union (EU) and UNDP in Albania today presented 12 projects implemented by 12 civil society organizations (CSOs) aimed at improving employment services and skills development for vulnerable groups across 19 municipalities in Albania.

Funded under the European Union’s Labour Market Inclusion initiative (EU4LMI), these grants are intended to promote employment and skills development among vulnerable groups, including individuals out of work, education, or training (NEET), young mothers, members of the Roma and Egyptian communities, persons with disabilities, and beneficiaries of economic assistance.

The ceremony, held at the Vocational Technical School in Korçë, reflects a joint commitment to inclusive economic development and equal access to decent work for all Albanians.
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the European Union to Albania, Silvio Gonzato; the UNDP Resident Representative in Albania, Randi Davis; and the Mayor of Korça, Sotiraq Filo.

“Through these EU-funded grants, we are translating policy into tangible action by creating real opportunities for individuals at risk of social exclusion to acquire skills, secure employment, and improve their quality of life. This initiative is part of a broader €70 million EU assistance programme dedicated to promoting social inclusion in Albania. It supports the Government in advancing social sector reforms and aligning with the requirements of EU accession, particularly those outlined in Chapter 19 on social policy and employment. EU integration is not solely about legislative alignment; it is equally about building a more just and inclusive society in which no one is left behind,” stated the EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato.

“UNDP is proud of its partnership with the European Union in this strategic intervention,” stated Randi Davis, UNDP Resident Representative in Albania. “These projects are designed to empower vulnerable groups by enhancing their access to the labor market and promoting inclusive economic participation.”

The €1.2 million grant program, implemented in collaboration with the National Employment and Skills Agency (AKPA) in Albania, will deliver tailored services over the course of the next 16 months, concentrating on three main areas: Intensive Employment Counseling, Basic Skills Training, and Supported Employment and Skills Development for Persons with Disabilities.
