The EU delegation in a post on social media informs that the ambassador saw first-hand the modern laboratories of the Veterinary Institute of Food Safety and held an open and stimulating conversation on the health of people, animals and the environment in an integrated way.
Thanks to EU support, ISUV has set up an Animal Health Laboratory and purchased modern equipment for food safety, pesticide residues and heavy metal detection.

“Food safety, one of those challenging areas that Albania will have to focus on its way to EU membership. This is a topic we take very seriously in the EU. Food insecurity directly affects our health, style and quality of life. Indirectly, it can affect socio-economic growth, given the importance of the food sector for the European economy, trade, or even tourism. We are very happy to see Albania committed to adopting these high standards,” said the EU ambassador, Christiane Hohmann.
