In his remarks, Balla emphasized that, “the Socialist Party is the only political force that has never had and has not tried to appoint its people at the helm of Supreme State Audit-SSA. This has been an approach and that should be an approach because the SP considers this institution of great importance in terms of audit of public expenditures.”

“This institution must be strengthened and the liberation of this institution from being held hostage to a political representative is the best thing and I wanted on behalf of the SP colleagues to encourage this institution to be more active in order to improve citizens’ trust in this institution,” Balla said.

“We must be very clear on this issue, Albania has met all the conditions to hold this formal event of the official start of membership talks, after all the member states have highly assessed Albania’s achievements to date, including the assessment of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the elections of April 25, considering them the best elections ever held in Albania, which shows that the country is making significant progress in meeting the expectations of the European family,” Balla said.

“But let us not forget that the EU is an institution with a difficult decision-making that requires a unanimous decision, because it is impossible to find a unanimous consensus on foreign policy issues. From this point of view, we hope that Bulgaria and North Macedonia will find a solution to this issue, but this has nothing to do with Albania.It is neither the responsibility of the Albanian government nor of the Assembly, nor of Albania the lack of a decision-making.
