Representatives from the European Commission and Albania, represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj, met to discuss the level of implementation of the SAA and alignment of the national legislation with the EU acquis in the field of agriculture and fisheries, including food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary issues.

Agriculture Minister Denaj said that the meeting also focused on the accession negotiation chapters 11,12 and 13 on the level of SAA implementation, underlining the importance of Subcommittee as Albania presses ahead with efforts to deliver on EU integration reforms.

“I underlined achievements and key issues in the country’s agriculture and rural development,” she said.

Denaj said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is working to align policies with EU standards as Albania has embarked on a new path after the country opened Cluster 1 in EU accession negotiations.
