In a joint press conference alongside the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Minister Rama said, “Today we welcome you again to Tirana. I’ve lost track of how many times you’ve come. For sure you have visited us more than all your predecessors in office since the beginning of this century. Today is a marked day and a special press conference because I know very well before I hear you that you will not repeat the sentence with which you closed all previous press conferences: ‘We want to start accession negotiations with Albania,’” said Rama.

According to the Prime Minister, this sentence already belongs to history.
Today you have come to Albania because Albania has now seated itself at the table of accession negotiations and has opened the first cluster, ‘Fundamentals,’ entering a new phase when you should come again, but you must close the press conference by saying: ‘We want Albania to become an EU member,’” said Rama.

The Prime Minister assured that “we are downright determined to succeed in this as well.”
“Our negotiation team has shown in Brussels that it is up to the task of facing this new challenge. We know that this is a challenge that is not getting easier but harder, because it involves a series of tasks—there are thousands of them—which must be translated into laws, bylaws, but also into proof of their implementation,” added Rama.
