TIRANA, Dec 25 /ATA/ “The wife of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Linda Rama, hit back at the allegations levelled by the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, which had sent an official letter to the international institutions regarding the reports prepared for our country.”

In the letter signed by the members of the group, it is stated that Linda Rama, as the wife of the country’s prime minister, cannot author reports for the country. According to them, this compromises ethics and professional objectivity.

In reference to the accusations from the Democratic Party and based on the letter, Mrs. Rama emphasized in a televised broadcast that it is contradictory to recognize a professional’s value but then question her ethics.

“It is indeed true that this matter came to the spotlight last month, if I’m not mistaken, when the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, with the signatures of all its members, sent a letter to all international institutions in Albania, urging them not to engage me in their activities. Meanwhile, I have been working continuously with international institutions for 25 years. That being said, there are two points in the letter that, in my opinion, need to be looked into.”

The first point in the letter is that the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party acknowledges and affirms that I am an undisputed expert in my professional skills. I believe this is a novelty in Albania’s political tradition, particularly at such institutional levels, where confirmation comes from the highest political body. The Parliamentary Group of the DP, the opposition party, has recognized the professional abilities of someone connected to their political adversary. In the collection of affirmations and assessments of my professional expertise, I can confidently say that this collection is now complete,” Mrs. Rama emphasized.

“The second point that deserves attention is that while it is acknowledged that I am a highly skilled professional, it is also suggested that there are doubts about the ethics and objectivity of my output. However, I have already explained that I resigned from three roles, not because I was asked to, but because the internal ethical principles required that I step down from those positions. Nevertheless, I never gave up on my professional career and continued working in my field. I resigned as a lecturer in public policy, from the board that funded local government, civil society, and individuals, as well as from the office liaising with international institutions, in order to clear up any confusion related to these roles,” said Mrs. Rama.
