PM Rama: Ersekë-Leskovik road offers enchanting journey through untouched nature

TIRANA, July 29 /ATA/ – The new Ersekë-Leskovik road segment offers an enchanting journey through the unexplored natural beauty of another remarkable region in Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama said Tuesday.

Sharing footage on social media, the government head described the newly-rebuilt road as more than just an investment that shortens travel distances.

“It is a captivating journey through the undiscovered nature of this area, promoting tourism, fostering local entrepreneurship, preserving tradition, and encouraging young people to stay and invest in their hometowns instead of emigrating,” he said.

The reconstruction of the Ersekë-Leskovik road is financed through a fund of approximately 6 million euros from the Albanian government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The 42.67-kilometer road upgrade widens the asphalt from the previous 4 meters to 5 meters across its entire length, improving connectivity between regions and facilitating access to tourist attractions in Korçë and Gjirokastër.

The project is expected to expand the region’s tourism offer and boost opportunities for sustainable regional economic development.

TIRANA, Nov 21 /ATA/ – Work is nearing completion on reconstruction of the road linking the towns of Erseke and Leskovik in south-eastern Albania through a fund of around six million euros co-funded by the Albanian government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images showing the ongoing construction works on Tuesday, saying the segment is set to be one of the most scenic routes across one of the most beautiful natural landscapes.

PM Rama said that the new segment is part of the tourist routes network, linking Gjirokaster and Përmet in southern Albania and Erseka and Korça in the country’s southeast, two regions that are home to tremendous culture and nature potential.

The government head noted that the Ersekë – Leskovik road project, a scenic route running through one of the most beautiful natural landscapes, will significantly shorten driving distances and will provide a window to further development of the country’s tourism sector.

The 42.67 km-long and five-meter wide road is being upgraded as part of the EBRD and EU-supported programme on construction of 100 km of local and regional roads in Albania to improve connectivity to local tourist sites and the quality of the country’s tourism offer, boosting one of its key sectors.

In addition to helping improve the condition and safety of the road, the work will open up access to the Korca and Gjirokastra areas, unlocking their potential for tourism, expanding the region’s tourism offer as a way for regional sustainable economic development.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images showing the ongoing construction works on Sunday, saying the segment is set to be one of the most scenic routes across one of the most beautiful natural landscapes.

“Ersekë – Leskovik road, a scenic route running through one of the most beautiful natural landscapes that everyone will experience soon and where work is full steam ahead to complete the project,” PM Rama said via the social media.
